Devin Varela
Chief Procurement Officer

Devin Varela is the Chief Procurement Officer for the New Mexico Department of Vocational Rehabilitation (NMDVR). In this capacity, he leads the agency’s procurement and contract functions for the agency as well as trains staff in administrative procedures, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. Varela supervises the management of purchases, facility management, leases, fixed assets, fleet management, P-Card administration, and W-9 processing.

Before joining NMDVR in 2024, Devin was a purchasing agent for the Department of Information Technology and Department of Health (DOH), as well as a budget analyst and human resources assistant for the Department of Health (DOH). He has served in the New Mexico state government since 2020.

A veteran of the U.S. Army and New Mexico National Guard, Varela served as a motor transport operator to support logistical operations.

Devin Varela graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Business Administration from American Military University in Charles Town, West Virginia. He is a member of the New Mexico Procurement Association.
