Mario Lucero
Field Operations Director

Mario Lucero currently serves as the Field Operations Director for the Northeast and North Central regions of New Mexico, Areas 1 and 9. Mario has been with the division for over 12 years serving in various capacities. He oversees the NMDVR operations in the Las Vegas, Taos, Santa Fe and Espanola offices. In addition to 20+ years of self-advocacy, Mario has worked with many people with disabilities as a job coach/job developer, day rehabilitation coordinator for a DD Service provider, and a university disability coordinator.

Within NMDVR, Mario has served as Assistive Technology Coordinator for the NM Technology Assistance Program from 2008 to 2012. From 2012-2017, he worked as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor. From 2017-2020, he was the Program Manager for NMDVR Area 1, which includes Santa Fe and Espanola.

Mario has earned a Bachelor of Business Management and a Master of Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling. Mario’s passion is helping to improve the lives of individuals with disabilities through a combination of his advocacy, guidance & counseling, and leadership skills. Mario is married to his beautiful bride of 13 years, Stephanie. Together they have two daughters, Hannah, 10 and Savannah, 7.
