The New Mexico State Independent Living Council (NM SILC) is a statewide catalyst, promoting independent living.

Empowering persons with disabilities in New Mexico… The New Mexico Statewide Independent Living Council (NM SILC) is one of the federally mandated SILCs covering every state and territory of the U.S. It is authorized under Title VII of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 as amended.

The mission of the NM SILC includes a philosophy of consumer control, peer support, self-help, self-determination, equal access and individual and system advocacy, in order to maximize opportunities for individuals with disabilities, and the integration and full inclusion of individuals with disabilities into the mainstream of society.

The New Mexico Statewide Independent Living Council (SILC) is pleased to announce the Federal fiscal year 25-27 Draft State Plan for Independent Living (SPIL) is available for public comment from March 29, 2024 until April 30, 2024. Please email Marlencia.Chee@jemezpueblo.us with your comments, and include “SPIL Comments” in the subject line. The SPIL is developed every three years by the SILC and the Network of Centers for Independent Living.
